Eltink Scheeps-en Jachtwerf

Although Eltink Scheeps- en Jachtwerf build a wide variety of different ships, mega-yachts are still our speciality. The requirements in terms of precision and quality are among the highest in the shipbuilding world. The hulls we produce are pure craftsmanship and we are proud of them.

Our continuous search for improvement enables us time and again to speed up the building process and improve quality, aspects that are of vital importance to both our clients and our own organisation.

The quality of the hulls prevents high costs at a later stage in the finishing process. The tight lines and dimensional stability of the hulls made at Eltink Scheep- en Jachtwerf form an excellent basis for a top-quality product.

Over the years, the yard has learnt all the tricks of the trade. The component parts, which often run into the thousands, are combined to create an impressive yacht. The skills of our professionals ensure that the hulls and superstructures we build are of the highest quality available. The welding process and the working methods we apply are of crucial importance for the end product. The hulls, which are often complex in shape, are manufactured in either steel or aluminium. The stern constructions and some bulwark sections are true steel works of art. We pay a great deal of attention to keeping the skin and often large side walls smooth, and to preventing welding shrinkage. The shaped surfaces have to fit together perfectly to keep irregularities in the surface to a minimum. The time it takes to build a ship can vary from a few weeks  up to seven months for large yachts. Eltink has built hulls and superstuctures for almost every renowned mega-yacht builder in the Netherlands.

We have an extremely good relatonship with the certification agencies. The excellent quality of the welding is evidenced by the X-rays commissioned by the certification agencies. Our projects have involved Lloyd`s Register, ABS, the Netherlands Shipping Inspectorate and Bureau Veritas.

We only work with qualified welders, and most of the final welding work is done using Mig/Mag. The outside of the tanks is finished with electrodes. This is more labour-intensive but it prevents porous joints and ultimate leakage. The longitudinal joints and butts are vee welded on a ceramic base.

Official Training company in association with the Vocational Training Centre and the Regional Training Centre

We train people as ship metalworkers. The trainees come come from the Theoretical Vocational Training Route (BBL), which means that they are at the yard for six weeks and then spend six weeks at school. The trainees are supervised at the yard by trained practical supervisors.
